| 520 | _aJaishankar Prasad was born on 30th January 1890, in Sarai Goverdhan village of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. He received his early education in Varanasi itself. Later on, he was educated at home in Sanskrit, Hindi, Urdu and Persian languages. Being an eminent Hindi poet, dramatist and a novelist, Prasad was a multi-faceted personality. He was awarded for his achievements throughout his life. He died of tuberculosis in Varanasi on 15th November 1937. Chandragupta is Jaishankar’s prominent play. It is a play about the rise of Mauryan Empire founder Chandragupta Maurya and the fall of King Dhana Nanda, the ruler of superpower Magadh. Also, it is a story about Chanakya’s revenge and his beliefs. | ||
