520 _aIndian Tradition approves a holistic approach towards the happiness of human beings. In general, happiness is considered as a state of mind. Impressive interpretations about happiness are given in Vedic and Sanskrit texts. Here the soul is recognized as being of higher significance as compared to the body and mind, but plenty of references are also available where the importance of body is highlighted for spiritual matters. A human’s health with proper upkeep and maintenance is regarded as instrumental in propelling towards the higher end – that of enriching the soul. Profound research supported with analytical thinking is required to understand the concepts of ancient Indian traditional thinkers. This volume comprises forty four selected papers which were presented at the Ninth India Conference of WAVES held at Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Rajasthan Sanskrit University Jaipur on the theme `Health and Happiness in Indian Tradition’ Bharatiya Parampara me Svasthya evam Sukha).
