  <abstract>This doctoral research develops advanced phase-field models for fracture and fatigue in solids, addressing important limitations of conventional formulations. The work focuses on mode-dependent fracture, artificial nonlocal effects, phase-field length-scale sensitivity, fatigue failure, and thermo-mechanical coupling. The researcher's published studies demonstrate extensions to mixed-mode fracture, length-scale-insensitive fatigue, functionally graded materials, and size-dependent micropolar solids.
