Summary: The oceanic features in the Bay of Bengal (BoB), situated in the northeast part of the Indian Ocean (IO), are unique due to semi-annual reversing monsoonal winds, equatorial forcing as Kelvin and Rossby waves. Freshwater fluxes from rivers and massive precipitation over the BoB make a stable water column in the BoB. Also, BoB is very potential for the active generation of most of the cyclones in the Indian region.
